Colonists, I wanted to give you an update before I depart for UKGE this coming Tue. Not going to lie, I'm very nervous about this trip overseas. I'm flying alone--atypical for me, and I'm a nervous flyer--and I've never been to UKGE, not as an attendee even. I've no idea what to expect.
The Good News!
Your games are on the water! I have received confirmation from Meijia that ships have left China on their way to fulfillment destinations. We are getting Backer spreadsheets to the fulfillment centers as well, so that they are equipped to begin as soon as they can.

Almost There

Colonists, it's been almost a month since my last update. This is due partly to running the Endangered Kickstarter, but primarily because we're in a TAP lull, and there just wasn't much happening to report.
The Journey
While there's still not much, I can lay a few details on you. Per the factory, production is complete, and the games will get on a boat and on the way to their fulfillment destinations early next week.
If we assume 6 weeks of travel time, that means we should see fulfillment begin at latest in the beginning of July. Like every Creator, I worked hard to make the May deadline I set, but things took longer than I expected.
Creator Error
Before 1 July, I will be attending Geekway to the West, Origins, and UK Games Expo.
As a publisher, we do our best to complete fulfillment before convention season. I am a proponent of 'Backers first'. The support you show deserves to be rewarded with getting your games in hand before anyone else.
However, I am also a tiny company, and one that cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars on a booth, travel, and lodging and see no return. At great additional expense I will have a limited number of Retail copies for sale at those shows--I am NOT selling Kickstarter editions. I am bringing only enough copies to break even.
1 July is the longest it should take. If the games get there sooner, fulfillment will begin, and you may very well have your games before these shows. I know some will be frustrated by this news, and I am sorry. I'm a full-disclosure guy, and I wanted you to know first.

Y'all Deserve an Update!

As a project creator and publisher, there is a tension that builds. I don't like writing updates with nothing to say, but at the same time, Backers deserve communication. Inasmuch as a lot of my energy is going to get Endangered funded, I am still very much working on pushing Artemis to you Backers. There were two issues holding things up.
The Minis
Yesterday I got another e-mail from our manufacturer requesting approval of the Snowcat and Colonial Embassy minatures. Here's one of the pictures included.

My reply was that I wanted more close up pictures before I give my approval. What do you think?
The Bag
A bag...it's simple, right? (Cue laughter.) Nothing is simple. We provided specs, and the manufacturer sent a fantastic bag in the proof copy. And then I got a question about dimensions of the bag that I thought had long since been answered. After a bit of back and forth, we got a result...
My heart is with the Shakeship, but this is one sharp bag!
Unlike the minis, I have given my approval for the bag. I hope you agree, Backers!
So where are we at?
Unfortunately, we are behind schedule now, but not overly so. The hope was for the games to leave China on 10 Apr, and now it appears we will see them leave on 26 Apr. But I am still waiting on more minis to approve, so don't bet on that date.

Rule Book Ready!
For those who want to get a head start on their interstellar travels, we uploaded the rule book to BoardGameGeek this week.
Manufacturing continues to move forward, and we expect any day now to begin making the logistics arrangements to get your games to fulfillment centers around the world.

Endangered is gearing up for our next Kickstarter on 2 Apr. The cooperative game play has been rock solid, and the evocative art has pulled it all together into an amazing package.
Leading up to and during the campaign, we're going to donate $1 per thumb on select images on BoardGameGeek to an animal-centric charity (up to $100 per image). Click through and show us that thumb! We launch 2 Apr.
Other than that, there's not a lot to tell. We're in that space between the stars where we'd rather all be in cryosleep and just wake up with the moon pinging our short range scanners.
